There are 3 simple actions to receiving from the Lord. Really.
Huh?
Exactly.
The word Huh is English slang for “I don’t understand, a question, or what?” It’s a perfect illustration of receiving from the Lord.
Let’s use the story from Matthew 5 to illustrate the 3 actions.
Matthew 5:21-28 (NIV) 21 Leaving that place, Jesus withdrew to the region of Tyre and Sidon. 22 A Canaanite woman from that vicinity came to him, crying out, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on me! My daughter is demon-possessed and suffering terribly.” 23 Jesus did not answer a word. So his disciples came to him and urged him, “Send her away, for she keeps crying out after us.” 24 He answered, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of Israel.” 25 The woman came and knelt before him. “Lord, help me!” she said. 26 He replied, “It is not right to take the children’s bread and toss it to the dogs.” 27 “Yes it is, Lord,” she said. “Even the dogs eat the crumbs that fall from their master’s table.” 28 Then Jesus said to her, “Woman, you have great faith! Your request is granted.” And her daughter was healed at that moment.
The 3 actions can be summed up using the word HUH as an acronym.
Action 1 – Humility : “Lord, help me!”
Action 2 – Unoffendable : “It is not right to take the children’s bread and toss it to the dogs.”
Action 3 – Hungry : “Even the dogs eat the crumbs”
Going Huh to the Lord will change your walk with Him. It’s saying I need help Lord. I don’t understand. Daily ask Him for help and then listen for His response.
The challenge to listening to the Lord is that often He will respond in a way that will offend you. How would you like to be called a dog by Jesus after asking for help?
He does not offend just because He can. There are at least two reasons we often get offended with God. First, He says things that are designed to reveal our heart. To get us to examine why we are really doing what we are doing. His statements cut through our motives and masks that we usually don’t even know we have. Second, we are often offended because God’s ways are often so different than man’s ways and we don’t understand.
But If we stay hungry like the Canaanite woman and keep pressing in pushing past any opportunities to get offended we will receive what we need. The woman kept seeking and refused to be offended.
So keep using the English slang word huh with God.
Huh? Craig, I don’t understand what you just wrote.
Sounds like you are on the right track to me.
This is really unptfiilg *sigh* I dont like that I have this problem and I try to keep things in perspective because I know the world doesn’t revovle around myself but at times I just get the feeling that everyone is looking at me and judging me for my every mistake, it makes it hard to even interact with people without being even in the least anxious. This is unptfiilg though and I will def turn my problems to the Lord because at this point he is the only one that can help me. Thanks for the post and your helping people like us by just talking about your situations and giving us all courage.
