As the Holy Spirit’s activity increases in the earth, He is looking for laborers to help Him. When God moves He uses us to help carry out the family business. We are not only a part of God’s family; we are a part of the family business! It is a privilege to partner with God in what He is doing in the earth.

To be a successful partner we need to be growing in 4 areas.

These 4 areas are required no matter what your job is. These are not just ministry jobs. Employers over the country want employees with these values.

1. Character – Another name for character is the 9 fruits of the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). Without character you will not finish well. Your gift will get you in the door but character keeps you in the room.

2. Skill – You have to grow in your ability to do the business. For instance, if you are a worship leader you need to know how to sing. It helps to know how to play an instrument. You need leadership skills to direct and guide others on your team. You may be called to be a worship leader but you still need to learn how. This takes hard work. No instant impartation here.

3. Strategy – God gives us revelation on what to do. Knowing how to apply it can be hard. It takes a plan to actually accomplish something. Success does not rise and fall on a good idea. It rises and falls on a good idea implemented well. Pray for strategy on how to carry out the gifts and revelations God has given you. Thomas Edison famously said, “Genius is one percent inspiration, ninety-nine percent perspiration.” To rewrite this in a Christian context, we could say, “Revelation is 1 percent inspiration from God, Implementation is 99% perspiration.”

4. Anointing – Anointing only comes from God. It is His strength, presence, and favor on what you are doing. His anointing comes from being in the right place, doing the right thing, at the right time. God anoints you to do your ‘secular’ job too. I make my living as a software developer. I ask for God’s anointing on what I code. It makes me a better coder. Do what He asks you to do and His anointing will be on it.

God is raising up an army in the church and in all areas of society. As we grow in these areas, it will bring His way of thinking into the earth. Go forth in character, skill, strategy, and His anointing.
