How to Run to Win! – Winners Give More Than They Expect to Receive

Remember that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize. You also must run in such a way that you will win. 1 Corinthians 9:24 (NLT)

Many Christians live their lives as if it’s a lottery system. They hope someday their lucky number will be called and they will win big. Unfortunately it is not true. To win you have to run the race of life according to God’s guidelines.

In God’s kingdom everybody has equal opportunity. We don’t all have the same gifts, education, or background, but with God it doesn’t matter. His equality of opportunity is He wants to work through you to make up the difference. God has given you everything you need if you’ll work and seek Him out.

Here is one trait about winners I want to share with you today:

Winners Are Give More Than They Expect to Receive

God is a giver – a big giver. He gives more than he receives. This is a characteristic of a winner too. You can’t win by yourself. It takes others helping you along the way. When we are a giver we are sowing seeds into other people’s lives that pays off in helping us down the road. We don’t do it to get but we do always receive because it is a biblical principle.

Losers are constantly taking. Is there somebody you know who is constantly taking? That’s somebody with a losing attitude.

Calvin Coolidge says, “Honor has never come from what you received, but honor has come by what you gave.”

It is a biblical principal that you start to truly live when you start to live outside of yourself.

If you cling to your life, you will lose it; but if you give it up for me, you will find it. Mat 10:39 (NLT)

Many people like to give if they can give something big. Don’t do that, just start giving little things. Don’t put it off, it’ll be a blessing to somebody. Give of your time, possessions, and money.

If you are really eager to give, it isn’t important how much you are able to give. God wants you to give what you have, not what you don’t have. 2 Corinthians 8:12 (NLT)

Here is a biblical principle that is hard to understand: What I keep, I lose, what I give away, comes back to me.

It is possible to give freely and become more wealthy, but those who are stingy will lose everything. Proverbs 11:24 (NLT)

Be a giver and it will set you on the path of winning!
