Moses asked God in Exodus 33:15, “What else will distinguish me and your people from all the other people on the face of the earth?”

What a question! Moses was asking what will be different about me and my people?

I ask this question in my private thoughts? What is different about me from other people? What makes me special?

When God separated out Moses to create a special people for Him known as the Israelites Moses asked this same question. What makes us special? The amazing thing is God answered the question in verse 14.

The LORD replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”

What do you want to be known for? What do you want to build your reputation on? What legacy do you want to leave on earth? God picked the legacy for the people of Israel. He said you will be known as a people who have the presence of God on you!

Do we realize how important is His presence? Israel was very small and insignificant as a nation. They had no military, no economy, no education (they had been slaves for 400 years, no money (they did come out of Egypt with their wealth), and no reputation. There were many things they needed to survive and grow. God could have given them anything to make them successful.

God realized that the one thing they needed the most and would set them apart was His presence. God said I will walk beside you in everything you do. God knew that if they had His presence every need would be met and more. His presence would be their distinguishing mark. His presence would be their constant companion and source of wisdom.

This week take time to slow down and invite His presence around you. Even though we are saved and have His presence inside of us many times we don’t walk with His presence. Slow down and talk to Him until you are conscious of His presence. It will make all the difference in the world. Others will notice it too.

I can’t think of a better compliment than, “you have God’s presence on them.”
