2 Things Are Increasing!

I honestly believe God is increasing 2 things in our lives this year. I say honestly because many times we speak out of hope. I believe that this is more than hope, that it is something God is doing.

I believe He wants to increase His presence and His power in us, in that order.

We are to first gather around His presence. We are to never seek power first but as we learn to live in His presence it rubs off on us and we will rub it on others who need it. This rubbing on others is just releasing His presence that often manifests as power.

As we release the power of God into the world it reveals to them what God is like. When they see what God is like they will become saved.

Psalms 67:1-2 (NIV) May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face shine upon us, that your ways may be known on earth, your salvation among all nations.

Notice it is His ways or His deeds that help people to know who He is that then leads to salvation. He uses us many times to do those deeds. Without these deeds the world will have a hard time knowing who God is. But when they see the goodness of God they will want to become saved.

Unfortunately, in America the Church is known for what it is against. People are not touched when we remind them of what is wrong. It gives the wrong picture of who God is. But when we help them find the gold nugget in their lives or give them a gold nugget it reveals the nature of God.

2 Things to remember to keep our focus:

1. Stay poor in spirit. Never become too familiar with His presence and consider it ‘old hat’. Never say I have been there before. Let each time in worship, prayer, Bible reading – any other manifestation of His presence – be like the first time. Don’t lose your fascination with your first love.

2. Never forget the poor. Never forget the broken, hurting, etc. God is awesome and the world needs to know it too.

The good news is that His presence and power is increasing in our lives and services. Have you noticed?

  1. You are so right about the people that go around pointing out other’s faults. It’s not like these “wrong-doers” don’t realize they are wrong. They just don’t know The Way out. These “fault-finders” do nothing but leave guilt and shame in their wake. No one can walk on the water of condemnation. They need to see us, free and happy and in love with the God of the universe. Thanks for reminding us to stay poor in spirit so that the kingdom of Heaven may be ours, and that perhaps we may bring the kingdom of Heaven to earth.
