Article Summary – Short Version
We talk about 9 things of who you are. You look like God, are a masterpiece, and are a beautiful valued son or daughter. He will heal your hurts and take care of you. He is a perfect father and you are a beloved son.
Who Am I?
There is a battle over the value of people! Our society is redefining what it means to be a person at many levels. It is demonic and is devaluing the height of God’s creation – you. It is an attack against you and God, who created you in his image. It is affecting our self worth, identity and therefore your future. Who are You?” It is infinitely better than what the world tells you!
You look like him
He says you look like him. “So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them” Genesis 1:17a.
Don’t let others say you are not smart, beautiful, or not worth anything. It is a lie, knowingly or unknowingly, to keep your attention away from God. You are not only beautiful on the outside, you are beautiful on the inside. You look like him in your mind and emotions, too! You may think, “Why is so much of my life messed up, then?” Because we have focused on the wrong things that caused us to do the wrong things. Focus on him and do the things he does. It will amaze you at how your image of yourself will change. Return to the Father.
You are a creation masterpiece by God
Have you ever seen a picture of the physical DNA in our body? It is complicated, while staying simple. Have you ever seen a stained glass window in an old cathedral? The color and splendor of just a few thousand pieces is fascinating. The stained glass is less complicated and beautiful than your DNA. You were created. You are not an accident! You did not evolve. You were intentionally created. The world may have thrown mud on your stained glass. But return to the Father and he will remove the mud. You will then see the masterpiece he created you as.
You are beautiful
Meditate on this verse that God says in Psalms 139:13-17 and you tell me if I am exaggerating. “You made all the delicate, inner parts of my body and knit me together in my mother’s womb. Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it. You watched me as I was being formed in utter seclusion, as I was woven together in the dark of the womb. You saw me before I was born. Every day of my life was recorded in your book. Every moment was laid out before a single day had passed. How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered! (NLT)” Well said Father.
You are a valued person
God thought your form was so important, His Son took on your form as a man to bring you back into relationship with him. Would Jesus take on the form of a man if you were just evolved from a lower animal? Evolution is a lie scientifically and theologically. It is the Devil’s lie to devalue your image. The story of Jesus taking on the form of a man shows how valuable and important you are. Value is determined by how much someone will pay to get it. Jesus paid for you by sacrificing his son. You must be pretty valuable in his eyes.
You are a loved son or daughter
All of us need to know and experience this love. At the beginning of Jesus’ ministry, the voice of the Father said, “You are my beloved son.” (Luke 3:21-22). You are also his beloved son. He says the same thing about you. Today, say to yourself, “Thank you, Father that I am a beloved son. Thank you, you want to hang out with me. I love you so much. I want to hang out with you.” It doesn’t matter how you feel. Feelings come and go. Facts are real. The fact is you are a loved son or daughter.
You are securely his son or daughter
Your feelings lie, but the fact is you are secure because of God’s love for you. You are established in his heart and you cannot be removed from it. This gives you a confidence to move and live. Insecurity is believing the earth is your foundation. Security is realizing heaven is your foundation. More specifically, the God of heaven is your foundation. He is in your corner. He has your back. You are secure. He will not betray you. You are his much loved son. Go in confidence today no matter how you feel.
You are one that he will heal your hurts
Sometimes because of hurts and wounds, we will not let others into our heart. This includes God. We don’t want to be hurt again. We often become the ‘tough’ man who does not need love from others. The tough man needs to go. It robs of us joy. It robs us of one of the most valuable reasons to be a Christian. Feeling the love of God and then letting that love out to others. We were created to feel and express love. If you are a “tough” man because of hurts and wounds, ask Jesus to heal you and start making you whole. You will not regret it!
You are one taken care of
He takes responsibility for you like you do for your kids. He does not treat the relationship with you lightly. It is not a theoretical, some day, relationship. He is your father now, and he knows it and he owns it. Ask God to show you the magnitude of his care and responsibility for you. He cares for you! He is committed to your growth, health, and welfare! Even when you don’t think he is looking, he is looking. Even when you don’t think he is thinking about you, he is thinking about you. Thank him now for being such a good father. He is the best.
You are His beloved Son
He was affirming the identity of Jesus by declaring it. The Father communicated His love for His Son. Every human being on the face of the Earth desires to be validated by the father as a son/daughter. The greatest level of approval comes when you are affirmed in who we are, not just in what we do. When this was said, Jesus had not begun His public ministry yet. He had done none of the amazing things we would know him for. You are approved from the beginning. When we realize this, we don’t spend our time trying to earn it. How liberating! You are always a son, no matter what you do!
