Theology Summarized – Part 2

Back in June (Click Here for Blog) I wrote a blog summarizing all of theology in two statements. The two statements were:

Statement 1. God is good. The Devil is bad.
Statement 2. Statement 1 Never Changes. Ever.

I also wrote “Well, maybe not all theology. But pretty close to all can be summed up in these two statements.”

Well I have a Statement 3 now for our Systematic Theology:

Statement 3.  Dominion is the goal of Christianity.

Definition of Dominion – the power of governing and controlling; sovereign authority.

Dominion is a word that many Christians and politically correct Americans have a hard time with. It implies that one way of thinking dominates another way of thinking. It implies that one way of living dominates another way of living. That is exactly what dominion means. That is exactly what God wants His children to do.

Gen. 1:26 (KJV) And God said , Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

God is training a group of Christians who have a dominion mentality because that was the original commandment. Now before you panic, the Encarta dictionary has this definition for dominate: “to have a prevailing influence on somebody or something”

He is raising up a group of Christians who are actively pursuing that the earth comes under – without force or violence – the prevailing influence of Jesus as King over everything.

Matt. 6:10 (NIV) your kingdom come, your will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

It is a radical mind shift that is taking place, but it is taking place. Here is a list of some of the ways of thinking that God is retraining  Christians to think like:

Our highest purpose is not to escape from the earth but to bring His kingdom to the earth.

Bringing heaven’s kingdom to earth will mean social transformation and justice.

Dominion is not a one way sovereign move of God that has been predestined.  It is a two way partnership that requires our participation.  Psalms 115:16 says “The highest heavens belong to the Lord, but the earth he has given to man.”

Kingdom influence will not come through man’s plans and religious activities but through the revelation and empowerment of the Holy Spirit.

The Church will learn how to war to overthrow the current influence in the world.

This includes being a rock that will stand up against the gates of Hell on earth (Matt. 16:18).

God wants to save all of the earth – not just souls. This includes government, business, education, media, arts/entertainment, family, and the church.

Jesus is serious when He said in Matthew 28:19 – “…make disciples of all nations…”.

The original commandment will be carried out. God hasn’t changed His mind since the Garden of Eden.

How to get there? I don’t know, but the Holy Spirit does and I am getting to know Him!
