When You Are Starting to Walk in Success

When You Are Starting to Walk in Success

When success comes your way, small or large, remember the following points so that success does not ruin you. Success has been the downfall of many. The questions below will help you enjoy the success you have or even help you go onto greater success.

Success is very deceptive. It can focus us on ourselves too much and not on the one who gave us success. When our focus changes in this way, it is only a matter of time when success will ruin your walk with God and your character.

Dueteronomy 8:18a (NIV) But remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth

We want to be trusted by God with the success he has given to us. If we are not careful, we can redefine who we are when we experience success in a way that God can’t work with us anymore.

There are a lot of questions. Pause on each one and ask Holy Spirit if they apply to you. Take your time over several days to read through them.

Do you accurately see yourself?Don’t think you are more important than you are. Success inflates our egos. Don’t take credit for your success. Enjoy where you are at, but don’t inflate it. Romans 12 3b (NIV) Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment,

Do you use your success to train and promote others?Don’t use others to support your success.

Do you join what God is doing in others, or does it have to start with you?

Are you building a brand, promotion, or institution around yourself? Refuse the temptation to self promote. Lift only God up and what he has done. Whatever glory you take for yourself is being taken from God.

Do you care what people think? It is often opposite of what God thinks.

Do you worry about your reputation? Don’t defend yourself. Let God handle it.

Do you have to be involved in everything?

Do you take credit for people‘s successes?

Do you openly celebrate other people successes? Especially those that are greater than yours.

As you have gotten more successful, do you separate yourself from ‘common’ people? Be accessible.

Are you quick to forgive others and repent of your own mistakes?

In closing, maybe the best piece of advice that sums it all up is, ‘Walk humbly before God’.
