Well, maybe not all theology. But pretty close to all can be summed up in these two statements.
Statement 1. God is good. The Devil is bad.
Statement 2. Statement 1 Never Changes. Ever.
You think I am joking don’t you? I’m not. I am serious. Ever once in a while after a big bowl of ice cream when I go into a sugar coma I can be a deep thinker.
I believe these two statements sum up everything the Bible teaches. You just have to apply it to your circumstances. Here are some examples.
God is in a good mood towards you. The Devil is in a bad mood towards you. Think of the implications of that!
God only gives good gifts to us. The Devil only gives bad gifts. Think of that the next time you wonder where something in your life is coming from.
God wants to set you free because freedom is good. Bondage is from the Devil because it is bad. Think about that next time a preacher tells us sickness, addictions, sickness, poverty, or any other nasty thing is from God.
We often use statement 1 as a cute little phrase or song but it is more than that! When we say and live out that God is good all of the time it brings His presence into everything we are doing. When we believe that sometimes bad things are caused by God it dishonors what the Blood of Jesus did on the cross.
See how simple these 2 statements make theology? Even my 6 year old son can get it. This does sound like a God thing now.
Gotta go – getting too deep for me.
James 1:17 “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.”
